I was appalled and disgusted to hear an open conversation between my co-worker and customer service/owner/employee (someone) of Maui Tropical Flowers. First and foremost I am Kanaka Maoli/Hapa, lived here all my life and ALOHA is the internal spirit in which we all hold, even through hardships and diversity. My co-worker wanted to send flowers, any tropical arrangements to a 'ohana's (family) kupuna (elder) who made it out of Lahaina and moved to Kihei, just to show he cared for her and her recovery. The employee who took the call initially started off pleasant and asked my co-worker when he wanted the flowers to be delivered and my co-worker asked for this Wednesday. Employee said it would be fine and asked what type of arrangement? My co-worker replied, he can't really see what type of arrangement, but can they put together any type of arrangement for $125? The employee then immediately responded, "Well, you called the wrong State, goodbye," and hung up! My co-worker called back to ask what happened and the response was, "You live here man, we had a major fuckin fire you nigger, don't fucking call back again!" All of that, after the beginning initial conversation that started off pleasant and accommodating, but as soon as my co-worker gave a price of $125, "You Called the Wrong State!" and then call my co-worker a nigger!!! WTF!!?? Is that how far we have fallen as a community? This has just shown me WEAKNESS and NO ALOHA (LOVE) MANA (STRENGTH) or 'UHANE (SPIRIT)!!! Just FYI, my co-worker is no nigger! And how dare you use such words! HEWA! (SHAME)! HEWA for our local business! Unless you are owned by a straight up HAOLE, then I can understand your ARROGANCE and IGNORANCE. But, if you are a Kanaka, I Am SHAME for YOU!!! NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH MAUI TROPICAL FLOWERS! GO AND TRY TELL ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT OR CHANGE THE NARRATIVE, BUT I WAS WITNESS AND HEARD EVERYTHING LOUD AND CLEAR! I DID NOT MISCONSTRUDE A DAMN THING!
